Mi Todo Señor

John, in his first epistle, writes that we love God because God first loved us. God's love, and the experience of God's personal love for us, is in fact what motivates us and fuels us to love God in return,—and this certainly is true in my experience. I have a confession to make—I'm not really very noble, and I am at heart really not that much of a self-sacrificing idealist. I've got to admit the truth—I love God because he first loved me. I give my life to God because he first gave his life to me (and for me). God has given me everything and so I give him everything. God has become everything to me—and so I offer everything to him. Meditating on this wonderful exchange some time back travelling in Latin America I put it this way, "a tí Señor mi todo, ofrezco mi todo, a tí y solo a tí". "To you Lord, my everything, I offer my all, to you and to you alone!"

Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God. 1Jn 4:7 RSV
